London Winter Wonderland

In November in London, as temperatures begin to drop and the whole city shines on all sides with Christmas decorations, Hyde Park, one of the most famous parks in the city turns slowly into a huge festive fair – Winter Wonderland. It hosts the largest carnival in London, and maybe even the United Kingdom moves to Hyde Park for six weeks of festivities. There are various choices of activities, attractions, and entertainment that will delight certainly the children but also all the other members of the family.

There is a large ice rink, a giant observation wheel culminating at 60m and offering an exceptional view of London, circus shows, carousels, bumper cars, and many fairground games for all those who wish to try their luck and win a shooting prize, haunted castles, roller coasters, pirate houses.

Visit Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park

The course of the park is animated with music; it is furrowed to meet the activity, the attraction that will make us vibrate as we hear here and there the shouts of joy, fear or ecstasy of people propelled on the thrill rides – sparkling lights glitter everywhere. The children can even meet Santa with his elves in the Santa Grotto in Santa Land: the entrance to the cave is free; it’s only the official photo souvenir with Santa Claus that pays off, but you can take a souvenir photo with your camera.

Many restaurants, food stalls, and themed bars are also there to soothe our little hunger or to warm us up with a hot drink – Christmas market stalls with pretty wooden chalets and some little ideas for takeaway souvenirs. If you like carnivals, you will be served beyond your expectations; on the other hand, there is, of course, a lot of people, evenings and weekends being more crowded than a day.

Some places may be quieter than others – however if you do not support the crowd, go there if possible during the weekdays or early in the morning rather than in the evening and especially do not forget to dress warmly as Winter Wonderland is outdoors in the heart of Hyde Park.

Winter Wonderland is open from mid-November to the beginning of January of the following year: from 5 pm on the day of opening, and 10 am to 10 pm every day except Christmas day 25 December.

For over ten years, Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland has been spreading the Christmas spirit throughout London.
